"$5,600 To Look Like A Builder?" Balenciaga Mocked For Designer Hi-Vis Jacket - B&T

2022-06-18 22:20:16 By : Mr. JEZE ALEX

Spanish designer fashion house Balenciaga has designed over a hi-vis coat worth £2,890, aka AU$5,6000.

Hosted on designer e-commerce platform FarFetch, the coat – from the brand’s autumn/winter collection – is a hi-vis number, looking remarkably like something a contruction worker would wear.

On FarFetch’s website, the puffer coat’s description reads: “for AW21, Balenciaga staged a dystopian collection, where the looks represented a sort of armour for everyday life.”

“In a neon yellow hue, this padded parka coat is defined by the practical reversible design and the padded silhouette. The look is finished with a logo print at the chest and rear.”

The jacket can be reversed and worn with the black lining on the outside, for for a slightly less lollipop lady look.

Predictably, the style has been resoundingly mocked online.

Meme account ItsAllMaad on Instagram shared a picture of the coat, so far receiving 28,000 likes.

Top liked comments include, “3k to look like a builder” as well as “this one comes with a CSCS [Construction Skills Certification Scheme] card”.

The mocking continued on Twitter, too.

I love fashion & everything but surely £2890 for a hi vis jacket from Balenciaga when you can get it for £24 is ridiculous… pic.twitter.com/BDli1FM84G

Peachay is an Australian denim label that is bucking current fashion trends that champion inclusivity for all shapes and sizes, and instead, caters exclusively to women with one specific body type: the hourglass figure. Rather than opting for a one-size-fits-all approach, Peachay has made the somewhat controversial decision to only cater to one shape. Peachay creates denim exclusively for women with hourglass body shapes and has been dubbed the 'most flattering ever' for women with smaller waists and juicier hips, butt and thighs.
